Nikki (if she were a blue alien of some kind)

This is a water color of my housemate Nikki.
She is blue.
She has her Cat Empire shirt on.
I am very proud of her hand.

MY SHIRT CAME!!!

I took some advice from a lady who goes by Reverend Awesome of the blog Shallow Thoughts with Kasey and uploaded my T-shirt design to Cafe Press. Yes, this website made me pay for my own artwork, BUT I got my shirt in the mail today and it is completely adorable!!! I love it. If you want one of your own, you too can pay this website for my artwork: http://www.cafepress.com/birdInTheRafters

You can get my dinosaur on a shirt, or a messenger bag, or a mug, or a keepsake box. The possibilities are almost endless. Truly.

And if I may plug one more blog, before I resume posting artwork and art-rants again, I would like to say that one of my awesome friends from college, Deirdre, is collecting pictures of people wearing wonderful and interesting outfits! In honor of her blog Pictures of People Wearing Clothes, here is a picture of me wearing clothes:

Tee shirt design woes

My favorite band in the entire world, The Cat Empire just had a contest for their fans to see who could create the most awesome tee shirt design. The top five designs (out of hundreds at least, I'm sure) were just posted on their facebook page and the design that gets the most "likes" will win the glory of having their design sold on shirts worldwide. They will also get a shirt with their design signed by the band. I excitedly submitted this rockin' design:

I am really proud of this groovy little signing dinosaur. The words are lyrics from one of their songs. I would say it is one of my favorite of their songs, but that would be a lie... because I am madly in love with every almost single song they do. I have no favorite. Now, I am not surprised they didn't pick it, because again, it was one of hundreds, and perhaps it would appeal to girls more than guys, and perhaps I could have photoshopped it a little cleaner, and perhaps they didn't want a design with their lyrics in it,  but what I AM surprised at, is I think that some of the designs they DID pick are downright boring.

I will just make my own shirt with my signing dragon on it. Take THAT, world.

As a PS I would like to add that this blog just hit 303 views and the Cat Empire does a song called, "Down at the 303." Coincidence? I think not.
